Vanguard of Valor Intermediate Officer Application

The Intermediate Officers are a new rank in VoV, that will operate between the High Vanguard rank and that of Officer. As officers we find ourselves becoming increasingly busy in maintaining the guild and could use a hand with some simple things when we can't be around or are busy with something and unable to stop and handle it.

As an Intermediate Officer your responsibilities will be centered around whatever role you feel are your strong points and will be working in conjunction with an officer of similar qualities. Officers attached to an intermediate officer will bear full responsibilities of their words, actions and permissions. Additionally, each Intermediate Officer will be working in tandem with fully fledged Officers to ensure the company chat is free of any negative remarks or arguments that would be detrimental to the atmosphere of the FC. In short, keep it drama free.

Please know, this isn't a position of vanity. There is no glory to be had here, and you'll effectively be trading away your play time for administrative duties some days. This, much like being an Officer, is a position of responsibility. We expect members to treat the role as such, and not go throwing their weight or titles around needlessly, and especially not abuse their power.

Naturally, as with the Members and Officers you'll be expected to follow the guild rules at all times, and be an example for others. If you haven't yet done so take a look at the Officer Code of Conduct and Member code of conduct in the News Section.

Some questions for potential applicants:

1. Why do you want to be an intermediate Officer?

2. What do you think you would bring to the table as an Intermediate Officer (ie: Are you good at organizing events? Organizing Raids? Crafting? Gathering? Rp? (this is balmung after all)etc.

3. Can you set aside your personal feelings if necessary to accomplish FC goals?

4. Two members are arguing in FC chat and no Officers are online, how do you handle the situation?

5. Are you able to keep an unbiased opinion when in a mediating position regardless of your relation with parties involved?

6. Are you willing to use applications that would ensure communication with Officers and other intermediate officers ie: steam chat/Line/website. Teamspeak (at least to listen)

If you are interested in being more involved with the FC and becoming an Intermediate Officer then feel free to apply for a position by sending a message to any officer with regards to this application and answers to the questions.

1. Why do you want to be an intermediate Officer?

I’ll do anything I can do to keep Valor a drama free zone. I have been in a few FC’s in the past that have turned sour due to avoidable FC drama

2. What do you think you would bring to the table as an Intermediate Officer (ie: Are you good at organizing events? Organizing Raids? Crafting? Gathering? Rp? (this is balmung after all)etc.

I can do all of the above eventually but I would excel at event and raid organization. I do have an extensive and indepth history with RP as well.

3. Can you set aside your personal feelings if necessary to accomplish FC goals?

On any argument not including steak

4. Two members are arguing in FC chat and no Officers are online, how do you handle the situation?

I would follow the following 3 step process if a harmful/hurtful/hostile/ anything that goes beyond a civil debate enters the FC chat. Step one I would immediately and politely request the continuation of said argument to be immediately discontinued in FC chat and for them to continue it in tells or any other chat other than FC chat. If mediation is needed I would go down to step two. Step two I would identify what the argument is about and see if a swift solution for both parties is possible, failing to find one I will submit a report or get in contact with one of the officers informing them of the incident. Step three I would remind all parties involved that this is a game, and although said argument had occurred I would encourage them to stay around and have fun with us at Valor. (Regardless of whether or not the issue was resolved)

5. Are you able to keep an unbiased opinion when in a mediating position regardless of your relation with parties involved?

again anything but steak

6. Are you willing to use applications that would ensure communication with Officers and other intermediate officers ie: steam chat/Line/website. Teamspeak (at least to listen)

yes (Sorry about the spacing GW Derped on the message window and would not let me hit send without it)

1. Why do you want to be an intermediate Officer?

1A) My number one concern has always been the fc. Since day 1 I've always lived and died for Valor. Keeping things light hearted and fun have always been a priority for me as well as the health and happiness of the fc members. I'm always willing to help anyone I can, even if that means putting down the grind for a while to see another member succeed. However most members are so far ahead of me help is more often than not something I can not provide. But if I can help, I will help. Always have, always will, regardless of whether or not I am an officer.

2. What do you think you would bring to the table as an Intermediate Officer (ie: Are you good at organizing events? Organizing Raids? Crafting? Gathering? Rp? (this is balmung after all)etc.

2A) This question is interesting. I'm not really good at any of these bits. My old position was that of RP officer, and back in our younger days it was a sad and lonely position. However my talks with some of the newer (to me) members I've found a few interesting in RP. I suppose I can try my hand at it again, I still have the Valor RPLS from the days of old, now empty but still there. However my true passion and pleasure has been teaching people how to play their class. I've always loved sitting down with someone else and teaching them what I've learned from my time with the class and how to better understand their favorite battle class. It's not of much use now with most of our FC being of raiding level, but should it come up it would be my pleasure.

I have thought about setting up some RP events with our neighbors (RCRP) for some in house RP. Though with what few RP members we have, we can still strike up some interest with a few in house events, or even conversations. But this will happen regardless of my standing in the FC, it will be for the personal enjoyment of our members and myself.

3. Can you set aside your personal feelings if necessary to accomplish FC goals?

3A) yes. My time as an officer before I've had to do that for a variety of reasons and the one time I didn't I learned my lesson the hard way. My personal feelings get in the way of the fcs health and well being, and that is unacceptable. My policy has always been that of sacrifice and I'll never make the mistake I made again.

4. Two members are arguing in FC chat and no Officers are online, how do you handle the situation?

4A) FC chat is a place of commerce fun and general confession. Not a place to have an argument. Arguments are to be had elsewhere, through whispers preferably. Telling them so would be warning one. Further warnings would have consequences. My suggestion would be to quarantine the members in a special rank for further analysis by the officer council.

Though my suggestion would be to have a place where people could argue (or a heated discussion even) with a mediator if they really want. Sort of a vent ls with one or more officers in charge. Two people or even a solo member could enter, vent their frustrations with FC matters and take their leave after. This would give officers a way to listen in on the problems of the fc and fix then if we can, or at the very least be aware of whatever issues boiling to the surface amongst our friends.

5. Are you able to keep an unbiased opinion when in a mediating position regardless of your relation with parties involved?

5A) yes. I've always been very vocal about my opinions in FC chat or anyway when listening to other members problems. Moving back to the whole start of the rebellion a year ago, I sat in and listened to the problems people were having and tried to mediate a peace between Valor and the members of the hidden rebellion. My mistake was not informing officers of it immediately because I was afraid I'd lose the members trust. Though my actions were wrong, my concerns were only for the FC as a whole.

6. Are you willing to use applications that would ensure communication with Officers and other intermediate officers ie: steam chat/Line/website. Teamspeak (at least to listen)

6A) yes, even when I wasn't an officer I've used steam chat to have friendly chats with Lecan when I could. I've also dropped in on TS when I could or we had officer matters to discuss. Even a few trials and raids when I was a part of them. I'd like to have a way to get a hold of every officer if I need to or they need to get a hold of me. No matter what they issue may be. Same with the members, I really want a thread for ways to get a hold of the officers off site. For whatever reason, the option might bring a measure of comfort to some. Though these off site conversations should be handled the same way as an on site one to ensure accountability and eliminate the "he said she said".

1. Why do you want to be an intermediate Officer?

I been in the fc since roughly hw release and since then I have had nothing but kindness from you all. Some of my best memories are from this fc and I thought the least I could do is help lead the fc and continue the tradition you have all shown me.

2. What do you think you would bring to the table as an Intermediate Officer (ie: Are you good at organizing events? Organizing Raids? Crafting? Gathering? Rp? (this is balmung after all)etc.

I am a tank main so I usually try to help people queue quickly for duty finder especially ex roulette and any tips that normally apply to tanks. I would be fine for organizing some raid and other events and hopefully we can have some nonsense fun together.

3. Can you set aside your personal feelings if necessary to accomplish FC goals?

I have always been good at that if there is ever a issue I will pull them aside and have a 1 on 1 talk to sort out the problem. I been in a raid static with 6/8 just fc members I am sure they would vouch for my relaxed and level headed nature.

4. Two members are arguing in FC chat and no Officers are online, how do you handle the situation?

As in above I would either tell them to drop it immediately if that does not resolve the issue I will pull them aside into either a ts3 channel or a fc private room there is no reason to argue among ourselves we are suppose to be like family.

5. Are you able to keep an unbiased opinion when in a mediating position regardless of your relation with parties involved?

Yes I am. We should all have our opinion and they should be heard but we need to work together as a whole to sort these issues out its never about who is right and wrong.

6. Are you willing to use applications that would ensure communication with Officers and other intermediate officers ie: steam chat/Line/website. Teamspeak (at least to listen)

Yes I would. I use it all the time :)

Side note: As you all know I joke around a lot but when it comes down to it I am always ready to be serious and get down to business and help you all out when I can. I love you all and may the best officer win. :D

1. Why do you want to be an intermediate Officer?
I have really enjoyed my times in Valor and am familiar with the FC for long before I joined. It's a nice place and I would like to see it maintain it's positive attitude and be the home all of us want it to be.

2. What do you think you would bring to the table as an Intermediate Officer (ie: Are you good at organizing events? Organizing Raids? Crafting? Gathering? Rp? (this is balmung after all)etc.
I have extensive PvE and PvP experience in the game. I can help people get clears, set up PvP events and am willing to devote time to helping people master mechanics.

3. Can you set aside your personal feelings if necessary to accomplish FC goals?
I have never had issues being objective in discussions or arguments, even if this goes against my own vision if a different opinion makes more sense that is the one that should be followed.

4. Two members are arguing in FC chat and no Officers are online, how do you handle the situation?
I approach the situation by asking both members what the exact situation is, when I have a good understanding of the ongoing situation I will try to act swiftly and correct so that both sides of the argument are happy with the outcome and neither of them feels bad.

5. Are you able to keep an unbiased opinion when in a mediating position regardless of your relation with parties involved?
As I said before the vision or opinion that makes the most sense is the one I will go with wheter or not this is something that I personally support.

6. Are you willing to use applications that would ensure communication with Officers and other intermediate officers ie: steam chat/Line/website. Teamspeak (at least to listen)
I already use all the above mentioned applications on a daily basis.

1. Why do you want to be an intermediate Officer?
I really enjoy my time here in Valor, it has been a bit of a short time but I think I get along with everyone really well and it's been a while since I found an FC I can stick to since I left my last FC. At first I wasn't considering applying for an officer rank since I believed I haven't been here long, but I've been told that I could a pretty good job so here I am! ^^

2. What do you think you would bring to the table as an Intermediate Officer (ie: Are you good at organizing events? Organizing Raids? Crafting? Gathering? Rp? (this is balmung after all)etc.
Crafting mostly. In my last FC it was a crafting guild and I spent a lot of my time learning the crafts and getting a lot better. I've helped plenty of people in and outside the FC with crafting because I really love it and I love being able to help others.

3. Can you set aside your personal feelings if necessary to accomplish FC goals?
If it is for the better of the Free Company, I am willing to put aside my feelings. I tend to go along with what is the best decision unless I believe there could be alternate solutions. However again, if it certain things have to happen, then I will do it regardless of my personal feelings.

4. Two members are arguing in FC chat and no Officers are online, how do you handle the situation?
I would first ask them to not do it in FC chat. If you have to say something to one another, keep it in private chat, no one wants unnecessary drama. If they are having more issues then I will try and see if I can't personally assist, off FC chat of course. If the problem keeps going or if one of the members are pushing it I will warn them that I will be taking it to an officer or another person of higher ranking if they continue with their actions. I want to keep everything off FC chat the best I can and mostly put my energy in hopes of resolving the situation wherever possible.

5. Are you able to keep an unbiased opinion when in a mediating position regardless of your relation with parties involved?
I've had to deal with lots of drama in my past FC's (I don't know I just somehow end up involved xD ). And it was very hard for me to resolve conflicts that were between members that I really cared about. However when I did talk between the ones arguing I never took sides, I merely stated the facts of the situation and how each of them are at fault in their actions. I do my best not to be opinionated and take sides merely cause of my relationships with the other party.

6. Are you willing to use applications that would ensure communication with Officers and other intermediate officers ie: steam chat/Line/website. Teamspeak (at least to listen)
I am willing to do pretty much any means of communication. I have teamspeak though I don't use it much, however if I'm needed then I will use it.
